Iran wrestling federation has candidate for 2018 World Wrestling Championships in men freestyle and Greco-Roman.

Iran has sent its official request to United World Wrestling. During 2015 Iran also hosts Greco-Roman World Cup and some international tournament such as Takhti Cup in senior FR and GR as well as Yadegar Emam Cup in cadets age category.
